Email from Lila's teacher...

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Miller,

I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying having Lila in my class this year. What a bright, respectful, and responsible young lady she is! We have a wonderful group of students in room 107 and I think this will be her best year ever.

Please be sure to look over and sign the yellow progress report she brought home today. She will need to return it along with her other homework tomorrow.

Thank you for the support you give Lila in her education. It makes all the difference!

Sincerely,
Susan Lamborn

Neighbor girls

Playing in the big pool in the back yard is okay...But add friends and it's so much better!

And funny how they migrate to the little pool in the front.

Sweet baby sister.

Finally, Lila is brave enough for the slip n slide. She is covered in bruises and can't get enough, lol.

Lila is 7 1/2 today!

Lila's birthday is less than 2 weeks after Christmas. It's overwhelming, I think, to get everything at once then have to wait a whole year. So, today after VBS we went to DQ and Lila picked out a large brownie batter blizzard. She was tickled telling people that she's 7 1/2 today. The kids have never told their ages is 1/2's before. Pretty cute!

Fabulous 4th!

We started off our day at the water park down the street.

Daddy and Lila going through the water tunnel. I know it's called a lazy river, but Evan??? The epitome of lazy looking!

Daddy down the water slide, woo hoo!

Evan drying off, before i poured ice water on him. Bad mom.
Then, the kids and Timmy went to the P-D's annual extravaganza.

Uncle James & Gracie spending QT together. Grandpa & Grandma wait.

Lila watching the fireworks for the 1st time without being scared!
Count your blessings, America. And don't quit praying for our soldiers.

Oh, my husband makes me laugh!

So, there is an on going joke about Tim's mom, who likes to tell the same stories over and over. Or maybe has the same question. Well, every year Tim, emulating his mom, has the same reaction to the first berries picked from our garden...It's really funny too because we just sit there tight lipped waiting. Then, there it is:
Timmy: "Ah, raspberries...natures perfect fruit."
Probably not as funny to you reading, but very funny to us ! =)
We love you Daddy!!!
PS-We have picked 8 bowls of berries this summer and have more that are ready. I will have extra plants in the fall or spring if you have a very sunny spot for them.

Uncle David's surprise party

Our dear friend, David, turned 40 last week. We hid at his house while he was out to dinner with his wife and his parents. He didn't have a clue! It was so fun.

Surprise! Look how tickled his wife is in the background. Cute!

Lila making friends.

Poor girl, monkey in the middle with the boys, who loved antagonizing her. Fortunately, she knows how to handle that, (I wonder why?) =)

Library

Since before Lila could read her daddy would take her and her brother to our local library. Every year Evan would do the summer reading program which rewards the kids with a concert at the zoo. Lila has taken the same fondness of reading that Evan has. She too, has done the summer reading program the last 2 years and this year she told us she was ready to have her own library card. What a proud and happy little girl.

Ch, Ch, Ch, Chia...

Lila has wanted a Chia pet for a while. I've done one in the past with Evan. You water every day or it doesn't sprout and once it does sprout within days it's dead. But, every kid should experience this because all in all, for them, it IS fun.
So, how cool that we found Garfield, Lila's obsession at the moment. In 1-2 weeks we should have a Garfield that looks like Don King...we'll see what happens.

Field Day 2009

Field day is always such a big deal for the kids. It's the first day of free dress for the year and the whole day is nothing but fun! Normally, Tim is the only one who gets to volunteer, since it is on a Friday, but my schedule is different this year so I was able to help out too.

We picked the birdhouse bean bag toss.

The kids had a blast! Besides all of the game stations around 10-11, there were 3 bouncy stations, a smoothie station and a face painting station.

So, now it's Monday, and Lila wore a new dress my mom made her to school. I can tell it is almost bitter sweet for her, that school is almost over. She loves going every day, but she also loves her sleep. She sleeps 12 hours every night and she's a happy girl =)

We are so looking forward to all of the fun activities our neighborhood has in store for us. Free movies, concerts, the water park. It's going to be great!

Italian dinner and desserts auction

Yep, another fundraiser for missions!I made Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownies with vanilla mint frosting to be auctioned off. They brought in a total of $54.00, thank you very much. Pastor Kathie likes them so much she had me make a special order just for her to take home. She's so sweet!

Evan's good friend Tyler enjoying a cookie.

Olive Garden donated the bread sticks. Lila was happy. Yes, Rikki, another food picture. It's relevant, LOL =).

In the end $1300.00 profit was made. Still lots to go. We can do it!

Heaven shine

Lila was heading up to bed and said, "Mama, come look at the sunset, it's heaven shine." Indeed it was, sweet child of mine!

Shine, Jesus, shine. Fill this land with the Father's glory. Blaze, Spirit blaze. Set our hearts on fire. Flow river, flow. Flood the nations with grace and mercy. Send forth Your word Lord, and let there be light.

New youth center

Our church has been having some "exscream" makeovers over the last couple years. We have gorgeous new bathrooms, upgraded kitchen and the biggest addition is the new youth center that some one anonymously donated the money to fund. Last Sunday there was the dedication for the building followed by a potluck (of course) =)

Evan and some friends; Kylie, Maryn, Tyler, Evan, Brian and Lila Grace.

The ramp off to the side.

Tom, Mike, Pastor Greg and Blake.

Rockin' worship!

What Lila was waiting for...lunch. She was good and saved her pink cupcake for last.
This new building is amazing and so filled with God's love. There is nothing better than seeing future generations overflowing with a passion for the Lord!
